Which Mosaic Project Should You Choose? A Guide to All 5 Workshop Options

Which Mosaic Project Should You Choose? A Guide to All 5 Workshop Options

One of the first decisions when booking your workshop is choosing your project. Every guest chooses from five mosaic art projects — four lamp styles and a candle holder — before arranging colorful glass tiles and beads onto the glass surface. Each option has a different form, and each guest's mosaic project develops its own look based on the tile arrangement, color combinations, and bead choices made during the session.

This guide covers what to know about each of the five projects so you can compare the options before booking and choose the project that best fits your preference.

The Five Workshop Projects

Mini Table Lamp

The mini table lamp is the most compact of the four lamp styles, making it a good option for guests who prefer a smaller overall size. Its upright format works well as a tabletop accent in a bedroom, living room, office, or on a shelf.

Table Lamp

The table lamp has a classic upright tabletop format and is a good option for guests who prefer a more traditional lamp silhouette. It works well as a decorative lamp in a variety of indoor settings.

Swan Lamp

The swan lamp takes its name from its distinctive silhouette. Its curved form gives the design a more sculptural character compared with the upright lamp styles, making the overall shape part of the display.

Moon Lamp

The moon lamp has a crescent-inspired form that creates a recognizable profile when displayed. Its shape may appeal to guests who prefer a more decorative silhouette rather than a traditional upright lamp.

Candle Holder

The candle holder is the only option that does not include a lamp base or cord. Guests decorate a glass candle holder with the same colorful glass tiles and beads used for the lamp projects. It works as a tabletop accent that can hold a small candle. Unlike the lamp projects, the candle holder has no metal parts.

Things to Consider When Choosing

What overall style do you prefer? The mini table lamp and table lamp have upright tabletop formats, while the swan lamp and moon lamp have more distinctive silhouettes. The candle holder is a compact standalone option.

Do you want a lamp or a standalone decorative piece? The four lamp styles include a lamp base and cord, making them functional as well as decorative. The candle holder is a standalone accent piece with no lamp base.

What shape appeals to you? The mini table lamp and table lamp offer more traditional upright forms. The swan lamp and moon lamp have distinctive silhouettes that give the design a more sculptural look. Each guest's mosaic project develops its own look regardless of which option they choose.

Once the session begins, pattern guides are provided at each seat for guests who would like inspiration or a starting point for their tile arrangement. Guests can also create their own arrangement, and the experienced instructor guides the creative process.

All Five Projects Follow the Same Workshop Process

Whichever project you choose, the session follows the same general creative process. During Phase 1, guests arrange colorful glass tiles onto the glass surface. During Phase 2, the experienced instructor demonstrates how to place colorful beads between the tiles to add depth and texture to the design.

Because the mosaic glue needs approximately 10 to 12 hours to dry fully, the final grouting step is completed at home rather than during the workshop. Before the session ends, the experienced instructor demonstrates the grouting process and provides each guest with a grout packet and printed take-home instructions.
