Who the Workshop Is For
The short answer: almost everyone.
Turkish mosaic lamp workshops are designed to be beginner-friendly from the ground up. You don't need any prior experience with art, mosaics, or crafts of any kind. The process is guided step by step, every material is provided, and the techniques are genuinely learnable by anyone willing to slow down and pay attention.
Workshops welcome guests from age 7 and up, making them one of the rare experiences that works equally well for adults, couples, families with older children, friend groups, and corporate teams. The atmosphere is relaxed and social β more like a creative gathering than a class.
The Workshop Experience: From Start to Finish
Arrival and First Impressions
When you arrive, you'll be personally welcomed at the door and escorted to your prepared table. Warm background music is already playing β an atmospheric touch that eases you in before the session even begins.
Everything you need is already waiting at your table: a tray with a pattern chart, three styles of colorful mosaic tiles, and matching beads. Your toolbox sits alongside, stocked with glue, tweezers, gloves, a grout packet, a mixing spoon, and a small mixing cup.
Around the room, finished display lamps glow with intricate designs β their light and patterns on full show as a preview of what you're about to create. Most guests find this first few minutes quietly exciting. You can see exactly what's possible before you've placed a single tile.
Choosing Your Project
Guests select their project type when booking online. There are five options:
Candle Holder β A glass candle holder base you tile and bead entirely. No metal components β compact, elegant, and ideal for a first workshop.
Mini Table Lamp β A compact, fully functional lamp. One of the most popular choices because it balances scale with impact.
Table Lamp β The full-size version, taller and more dramatic as a finished room piece.
Swan Lamp β A gracefully curved silhouette with a sculptural quality that guests tend to love.
Moon Lamp β A crescent-shaped design that casts a particularly striking light pattern when lit.
Once seated, the artist walks you through your materials and explains the first phase.
Phase 1: Tile Placement (~45 Minutes)
Your first task is choosing your tile colors and beginning to glue them onto your glass base. For lamp projects, this is a glass globe. For candle holders, it's a glass candle holder. You work from your pattern chart, adapt it, or go completely freestyle β the artist is available throughout to offer guidance.
This is where the session finds its rhythm. The focused, repetitive work of placing each tile is more meditative than most people expect. It's absorbing in a way that makes time move differently.
While you settle into your creative flow, authentic Turkish coffee is served in beautifully patterned porcelain cups, alongside fresh baklava. Real Turkish coffee β rich, strong, and served in small cups β and proper baklava, layered and sweet. Once the room has found its pace, a live ney performance begins. The ney is a traditional Turkish reed instrument, and hearing it played while you work is one of those details that makes this experience feel genuinely different from anything else in Atlanta.
Phase 2: Bead Placement (~45 Minutes)
After the first session, the artist introduces the second phase. You now select colorful beads and place them carefully between your mosaic tiles. The beads add depth and texture β details that are subtle while you're working but come alive when the lamp is lit and light moves through the glass.
A live baΔlama performance accompanies this session. The baΔlama is a traditional Turkish string instrument with a warm, resonant sound that brings a different layer of cultural atmosphere to the room while you complete your artwork.
Phase 3: Grout Instructions and Wrap-Up
After both creative sessions, the artist explains the final step: grouting. Because the glue needs 10 to 12 hours to dry completely, grouting is done at home β not at the workshop. The artist demonstrates the full process, answers questions, and hands every guest printed take-home instructions along with the grout packet already included in your toolbox.
You're given a few minutes to make any final adjustments to your project. Meanwhile, the artist prepares your lamp base β bagged with the grout guide and any remaining materials β and hands it to you before the session closes.
For lamp projects: the metal lamp base (the socket and cord assembly) is packaged separately and given to you at the end. You attach it after grouting at home.
For candle holders: the glass candle holder has no metal components. Take it home, wait for the glue to dry, then complete the grout at your own pace.
What You Leave With
You leave with your tiled glass project, toolbox materials, a grout packet, printed grout instructions, and your lamp base if applicable β everything needed to finish the final step at home.
Most guests find the at-home grouting takes about 20 minutes. A day after the workshop, you mix the grout, press it into the gaps between tiles and beads, wipe the surface clean, and watch your piece transform into its finished form. The whole process lands differently when you do it yourself β knowing every tile and bead is exactly where you put it.

Public Sessions and Private Bookings
Public sessions run on weekends β mostly Saturdays β and can accommodate up to 30 guests. It's a relaxed, open setting where each person works on their own project at their own pace.
Private event bookings are also available for birthdays, bachelorette parties, corporate team-building, and special occasions. Private sessions are tailored specifically to your group β typically between 10 and 20 guests β and are scheduled around your timeline and needs, giving your group the full experience in a dedicated setting.
