Looking for something creative to do with friends in Atlanta? At a Turkish mosaic workshop, your group can spend time together while each person creates a colorful mosaic project of their own. Whether you're planning a weekend outing, celebrating a birthday, or simply getting together, the workshop offers a hands-on activity to share.
Sessions are held at Homewood Suites by Hilton Atlanta/Perimeter Center in Atlanta's Perimeter Center area. During an approximately 2.5-hour session, every guest works on one of five mosaic art projects β four lamp styles and a candle holder β using colorful glass tiles and beads to create their own mosaic project. An experienced instructor guides each creative phase, and no prior art or crafting experience is required.
Why a Mosaic Workshop Works for a Friend Outing
Everyone creates their own project. Each friend chooses from five mosaic project options when booking and personally creates their own tiled mosaic design using colorful glass tiles and beads.
A shared activity. Friends work side by side on their individual mosaic projects at the same session. Every workshop also includes a live music performance.
Refreshments included. One serving of fresh baklava and one cup of traditional Turkish coffee are included for every guest.
A guided, beginner-friendly process. No prior art or crafting experience is required, making the workshop approachable for guests with different levels of creative background.
How the Workshop Session Runs
Phase 1 β Tile Placement
Each guest begins working on their selected lamp style or candle holder by arranging colorful glass tiles onto the glass surface. Pattern guides are provided at each seat for guests who would like inspiration or a starting point, or they can create their own arrangement.
One serving of fresh baklava and one cup of traditional Turkish coffee are served as the group settles in. Every workshop includes a live music performance.
Phase 2 β Bead Placement
Once the tile design is in place, the experienced instructor demonstrates how to place colorful beads between the tiles to add depth and texture to the design. Each project develops its own look based on the colors, patterns, and bead combinations selected by each guest.
Wrap-Up β Grout Instructions
Because the mosaic glue needs approximately 10 to 12 hours to dry fully, the final grouting step is completed at home rather than during the workshop. Before the session ends, the experienced instructor demonstrates the grouting process, answers questions, and provides each guest with a grout packet and printed take-home instructions.
Planning the Outing with Friends
Deciding what everyone wants to create is part of planning a mosaic workshop with friends. Your group can choose matching projects or different ones from the four lamp styles β mini table lamp, table lamp, swan lamp, and moon lamp β or the candle holder. Each guest selects their project during booking, subject to availability, so friends can coordinate their choices before reserving.
Public sessions run primarily on Saturdays, with two time slots: 11:00 AMβ1:30 PM and 2:30 PMβ5:00 PM. Because each session lasts approximately 2.5 hours, friends can plan the rest of their day around the morning or afternoon session they choose. Every guest leaves with the tiled glass project they personally created, along with a grout packet and printed instructions for completing the final grouting step at home the following day.
