Things to Do Alone in Atlanta: A Turkish Mosaic Workshop

Things to Do Alone in Atlanta: A Turkish Mosaic Workshop

Planning a morning or afternoon out on your own in Atlanta? A guided Turkish mosaic workshop lets you reserve a single spot in a public session, so you can arrive solo and begin working on your own mosaic project. Each session lasts approximately 2.5 hours, and no prior art or crafting experience is required.

Public sessions are held at Homewood Suites by Hilton Atlanta/Perimeter Center, 915 Crestline Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30328, in Atlanta’s Perimeter Center area.

Reserve One Spot for a Saturday Session

Public workshops run primarily on Saturdays, with sessions from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM and from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Select an available date and time that fits your schedule and book one place. Guests ages 7 and up are welcome.

Select From Five Mosaic Project Options During Booking

Project selection takes place during booking, subject to availability. The options are four lamp styles (mini table lamp, table lamp, swan lamp, and moon lamp) and a candle holder. Lamp projects use a glass globe, and the candle holder project uses a glass candle holder. In each case, guests glue glass tiles and beads onto the glass surface.

How the Session Unfolds for Solo Guests

Tools, glass tiles and beads, mosaic glue, and pattern guides are provided. The session moves through creative phases, with an experienced instructor guiding each one.

Phase 1: Tile Placement

Each guest begins working on their selected lamp style or candle holder by arranging colorful glass tiles onto the glass surface.

Pattern guides are provided at each seat for guests who would like inspiration or a starting point, or they can create their own arrangement.

Every guest receives one serving of fresh baklava and one cup of traditional Turkish coffee during this phase.

Every workshop includes a live music performance while guests continue working on their mosaic projects.

Phase 2: Bead Placement

The experienced instructor demonstrates how to place colorful beads between the tiles, and guidance is available during each creative phase.

Each project can develop its own look based on the colors, patterns, and bead combinations selected by each guest. The choices made throughout the session are visible in the tiled mosaic design.

Wrap-Up: Grout Instructions

Mosaic glue needs approximately 10 to 12 hours to dry fully, so grouting is completed at home the following day, not during the workshop.

Before the session ends, the experienced instructor demonstrates the grouting process, answers questions, and provides a grout packet and printed take-home instructions.

Every guest leaves with their tiled glass project and everything needed to complete the final finishing step the following day. Guests who select a lamp style also receive the lamp base in a bag at the end of the session. The candle holder project has no metal parts.
