Art Classes in Atlanta: A Turkish Mosaic Lamp Workshop

Art Classes in Atlanta: A Turkish Mosaic Lamp Workshop

Atlanta has a range of options for people looking to try something creative and hands-on. A Turkish mosaic lamp workshop is a fully guided, hands-on creative experience where every guest works with colorful glass tiles and beads to create their own handmade mosaic project β€” and takes it home at the end.

In a 2.5-hour session at Art N Melody's Alpharetta studio, guests choose from four lamp styles β€” mini table lamp, table lamp, swan lamp, and moon lamp β€” plus a candle holder option. An experienced instructor guides the group through each creative phase, making the session approachable for guests with different levels of art or crafting experience.

What the Workshop Involves

A fully guided creative process. The session moves through two hands-on phases β€” tile placement and bead placement β€” with clear demonstrations from an experienced instructor at each step. Guests work at their own pace within the session, with guidance available during each creative phase.

Beginner-friendly for different skill levels. No prior art experience is required. The workshop is designed to be accessible for guests who are picking up a creative activity for the first time, as well as those who enjoy working with their hands regularly. Each guest makes their own design choices β€” tile arrangement, color combinations, patterns, and bead selection β€” so every project can develop its own look.

A take-home piece from the session. Every guest leaves with the mosaic project they personally created during the workshop. The tiled glass project goes home that day. The final grouting step is completed at home the following day, after the mosaic glue has dried.

Refreshments and live music included. One serving of fresh baklava and one cup of traditional Turkish coffee are included for every guest. Every workshop includes a live music performance while guests continue working on their mosaic projects.

How the Workshop Session Runs

Phase 1 – Tile Placement

Each guest selects their project β€” a lamp style or candle holder β€” and begins arranging colorful glass tiles onto the glass surface.

Pattern guides are available for guests who would like a starting point, or they can create their own arrangement completely freestyle.

One serving of fresh baklava and one cup of traditional Turkish coffee are served as the group settles in.

Every workshop includes a live music performance while guests continue working on their mosaic projects.

Phase 2 – Bead Placement

Once the tile design is in place, the experienced instructor demonstrates the next step: placing colorful beads between the tiles to add depth and texture to the design.

Each project can develop its own look based on the colors, patterns, and bead combinations selected by each guest. The choices made throughout the session are visible in the tiled mosaic design.

Wrap-Up – Grout Instructions

Because the mosaic glue needs approximately 10 to 12 hours to dry fully, the final grouting step is completed at home rather than during the workshop.

Before the session ends, the experienced instructor demonstrates the grouting process, answers questions, and provides each guest with a grout packet and printed take-home instructions.

Every guest leaves with their tiled glass project and everything needed to complete the final finishing step the following day.

Who the Workshop Is For

Individuals. The workshop is a good fit for anyone looking to try a hands-on creative activity in Atlanta. Guests can attend a public session independently and work alongside other participants.

Couples. Each person creates their own project, so both partners leave with a handmade mosaic piece they personally created during the same session. Couples are welcome at public sessions, and private booking options may also be available depending on availability and event needs.

Friend groups. A Turkish mosaic lamp workshop works well for a casual creative outing with no specific occasion needed. Groups can reserve spots at a public session or arrange a private booking for a dedicated group setting.

Families. The workshop is open to guests ages 7 and up and is designed to be beginner-friendly for different ages and experience levels. Parents and children work through the same guided process side by side.

Private and corporate groups. Private bookings provide a dedicated workshop setting for the group with a dedicated experienced instructor and more scheduling flexibility depending on availability and event needs.
